Connection failure COM3 (not found / access denied)

Beitrag von koen058 »

Hi. I've got a Sony Ericsson W950i. I'm using MyPhoneExplorer for a while now, but last weeks I've got the following problem. When I want to make a connection with MPE, I get an error message telling me the "connection to phone could not be established: cannot be opened COM3 (port not found)". In the error log file, I see that access to port COM3 is denied. I've been trying using bluetooth, but that doesn't work either. Since I'm not familiar with ports, I don't know how and where to solve this. mRouter is telling me that there actually IS a connection with the phone. MPE also sees the connection (File - Settings), but when I search for a device, it doesn't succeed. Sometimes it helps to reboot the computer and mobile phone, but not always. Does anyone got tips? Thanks!

Access to port COM3 is denied

Underneath you find the log file. I've been waiting for the error to occur again, since it has been working last week, so that why it took some days to post the log file.

Thanks.

Toegang verboden = Access denied ?

If yes then another software has opened already the port.
- maybe Kaspersky blocks the port if you use this Virus-Software
- maybe the PC-Suite is running in background, close it
- maybe another phone-software or modem-software is running and blocking the port

You can try also this tool to find out who blocks your port: www.fjsoft.at/files/PortSpy.zip
This is a very experimental tool. If it shows a program then its correct, but it can also happen that it shows all ports OK which is not true.

SOLVED - Access to port COM3 is denied

Beitrag von koen058 »

Yes, "Toegang verboden" = "access denied".

I downloaded the PortSpy and I saw that COM3 was being used by mRouter. After making that port free, the "Access denied" error had indeed disappeared. But MyPhoneExplorer couldn't synchronize some things (calendar, phone book, ...), because it seems to really need a connection between the phone and mRouter. Applications like messages , call history etc. don't need the mRouter.

I've killed the mRouter application, rebooted MyPhoneExplorer, started mRouter again, started mRouter BEFORE MyPhoneExplorer was started etcetera etcetera. After a lot of trial-error handling, I have connection with the phone now.

Thanks for your support, FJ! From now, I know how to solve this recurring issue.

Kind regards,
Koen

Its right. You'll need mRouter for phonebook/calendar/files in myphoneExplorer. But mRouter has to use another Port and not COM3. I think you can take a look in the settings of mRouter and deselect COM3

mRouter using COM3

Beitrag von koen058 »

I can choose the COM-ports that will be used by mRouter, indeed. COM3 was included in this list.

Thanks for this useful information!

There is a Help-Button on the errormessage. Maybe it would be a good idea to click on it ;-)

- download and extract first the drivers for X10 mini. You can get them here: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/wport ... c=gb&lc=en
- enable USB-Debugging in Phone (Settings-Applications-Development)
- if you connect your phone now to PC then Windows will need new drivers, tell windows the path of the downloaded drivers

Hi,

I think I got all that:
Device manager:
Sony Ericsson sa101 ADB Interface Driver
Driverversion: 2.0.10.22

If I disable USB-Debugging and remove the drivers, and then connect to USB-Debugging again, Windows will look for new drivers and I install the above mentioned. But still no lock
Its a brand new company PC, lenovo w510, could it be com ports?

Thanks in advance
