Phone numbers synchronization - mapping
I would like to draw your attention on the existing mapping between UIQ phones and MPE (and Thunderbird). I know this has already be mentioned in the past but I think the existing solution can be confusing. Let me enter in the details:
The existing solution maps
MOBILE in UIQ -> MOBILE (W) in MPE -> MOBILE in TB
but also
MOBILE (W) in UIQ -> MOBILE (W) in MPE -> MOBILE in TB
if :
1) you enter a number in MOBILE (W) in MPE
2) synchronize with UIQ works OK by filling and updating the UIQ filed MOBILE (W)
3) enter a number in MOBILE in UIQ
4) the synchronization from now on will be between MOBILE in UIQ and MOBILE (W) in MPE, ending up in having two fields in UIQ and MPE with the same name (MOBILE (W) ) but with different content.
I cannot suggest you the technical solution but I noticed that if you backup the address book in UIQ, the VCF file in output shows the correct tags for the two fields: mobile and mobile(w).

I do insist but don't get me wrong: I would like to push you in the direction of a PERFECT product from an already winning product.
Having said that... are you sure there isn't a workaround to deal with this issue ? I just would like to observe that Symbian UIQ must differentiate the two fileds because 1) as I mentioned the address book backup (from symbian) in vcf format does write different and correct fields IDs for the two mobile numbers 2) MPE competitors (not free) do manage the two fields in a correct way (this is the only plus they have over MPE).
Don't give up: you're the best !!!!

I tested it again and i think no special-build is needed to find out if its the same shit with the M600i. Run MyPhoneExplorer in debugmode:
Turn off the sync with thunderbird, so that you have smaller logs
Sync the phonebook.
Add a new contact in the phone with a Mobile-Number and a Mobile(W)-Number
Sync again
Now open the databasefolder of MPE, if you were in debugmode you should see some xml-Files there which shows you the SyncML-Transfer. If you open those files you can see the vCard-data inside. You can also mail me the files zipped.
If you did not change the DB-Location of MyphoneExplorer then you can open the folder it with this command:
I'm tight about your results
Code: Alles auswählen
Start-Run-myphoneexplorer debug-OKSync the phonebook.
Add a new contact in the phone with a Mobile-Number and a Mobile(W)-Number
Sync again
