MPE2.0 chooses strange/wrong entries to sync

Beitrag von preston91 »

Great software!

Normally I do bidirectional sync Outlook-Android, which means MPE pushes the entry from more recently updated side (phone or PC) towards the side with outdated entry.

After I upgraded from MPE1.9 to MPE2.1 I observe the following discrepancies for Calendar and Contacts:
Calendar entries
- updated on phone (I added location yesterday), but now sync wants to push from PC to phone (without location) - issue: not picking the latest
- MPE wants to push some birthdays (whole day events with reminder 15min before midnight) from PC to phone, although I haven't touched them. And MPE sync window states wrong dates - as if PC date is one day back (e.g. 2nd March) vs phone (e.g. 3rd March), the actual date in Outlook/Android is 3rd March, sync wants to push the "PC entry" to the phone - issue: wrong date (and of unclear origin - is this some timezone problem? My devices have the same timezone and I haven't changed it. I tried the setting in MPE for "Time server=Local PC", didn't help), needless sync
- for some entries it's clear that update is due to URL being shown more clever (thanks!)
- for some entries it's no difference is shown, so it's unclear what will happen??
Contacts - MPE wants to push from phone to PC some contacts (that I haven't touched) and no change is visible on the sync confirmation screen - and also I can't get what's the common pattern/cause

I tested now with MPE2.0 - same issues as for MPE2.1.

Any advice on what to do?

PS. Three related ideas for changes to UI/features:

The sync confirmation Phone/Outlook comparison boxes are too small and sometimes the change is further "down" (but can't be scrolled to be seen) or is in some other parameter that's not shown at all in the comparison boxes (e.g. number of repeats for event, etc.). Would be great if the changes can be highlighted on the sync confirmation screen (and ALL parameters to be shown).

On the sync confirmation screen the user can either decide for each entry separately to commit changes (from Phone or PC) or to "Never sync this entry in the future", but the "Abort sync" option is for everything. I would like to "skip" deciding for some entries (e.g. the "unclear" ones), but to commit the others that I approve. E.g. "Don't sync this entry now, but show it again next time". Also, if I select "Never sync this entry" now - can I change my mind later and re-enable syncing for it?

If I were you, I would force the sync from your cell phone to Outlook.
Then it should work again afterwards.
