I have a friend who uses MPE but does not have a phone and uses MPE strictly on his desktop computer. He has two problems:
1.) Occasionally, he finds that all records of precious appointments have disappeared so I have started making periodic backups for him.
2.) Today, he saw many previous appointments have disappeared again so I attempted to restore a backup for him. I selected Extras> Restore from Backup and the list of backups I made for him does not appear.
First question: How do I restore a backup when there is no phone to connect to?
Second question: How is it that previous appointments are occasionally disappearing?

Our program doesn't work at all without a mobile phone, since at least one connection is a prerequisite for creating a database.
Has this happened in the past one time?
If so...
should not disappear appointments
Backups without a mobile phone can only be implemented as so-called offline backups. These MPB files can then be imported into the appointments list using the context menu (right mouse button).
If not... I don't know where the program should save the appointments?
So that's not possible in my opinion.

I installed MPE on his desktop computer about two years ago and it has worked as his contact and appointments database since then and he does not own a cell phone so I do not understand your assertion that MPE does not work at all without a phone.
In any case, I guess I will have to figure this out on my own.
Please suggest a file path where MPE stores the user's records.

The fact is:
Once after installation, a connection to an Android device must be established, because this is the only way for our program to create the MPE database folder in which the data is saved.
You can find the database path at:
MPE => F2 => Advanced 2 => Database
You will find the files in the subfolder MyPhoneExplorer[phone type][IMEI].
- Phonebook.dat for the contacts
- Organizer.dat for the appointments
