Sent SMS not saved - again, but different person

Beitrag von JaRobert »

Hello.
I've recently changed phone to huawei CLT-L29 P20 Pro with android 8.1.0.
My problem is, that when i'm sending SMS from PC it is not stored anywhere - when dialogs (succesfully sent) closes SMS looks like it never existed.
SMS is sent correctly and recipient(s) got it.

Option Save SMS is turned on!

Switching (on my mobile) default application to MPE Client solves that problem - but previous mobiles i used not behaved that way.
SMS is stored when I switch default app (standard Huawei) to MPE Client very fast. Then I open SMS list in phone (accept question about changing MPE Client to default app (standard Huawei). It annoys me.

I'm connecting phone with PC by bluetooth or WiFi.
What should I do (swithing app is very inconvinient).

Hi Robert,

I've posted a topic about the issue of having to switch between SMS apps when using MPE : https://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29108

You might want to have a look directly to my last post, though to make it clear and readable I'll say it here :

since several versions (v.5 ?), Android forces the user to define one single *default* application for handling SMS, and that application - and only that one - is allowed to send/receive sms' at any given time. Hence the switching back and forth b/w MPE and the stock sms app (or any other app you may have installed).

The "best" solution I've found is as follows : I've defined *MPE* as the default SMS application, then whenever the phone prompts me to confirm or modify the default SMS app I simply ignore the prompt (I tap anywhere on the screen outside the prompt, or tap the "back button"). This way, so far everything works as it used to under Android 4.2 : sms are sent and received on the phone and on the pc via MPE, the sent sms are saved in MPE, and I do get notifications both on the pc and on the phone.

These prompts happen whenever I want to use the stock sms app (i.e. while working outdoors on the phone), but sometimes also randomly (apparently random anyway), while at home and phone tied to PC/MPE (I see the prompt when powering on the screen - but just ignore it !).

HTH.
