Calendar App That MPE Syncs With

I just got a new Sony phone. It seems to want to use the google calendar.
I don't want to use google calendar. Google knows too much about me already.
On my previous phone (Amazon Firephone) the calendar app that came with the phone synced fine with MPE.
Also, I use Thunderbird with the Calendar addon (Lightening).
So everything synced great TB<>MPE<>(Firephone Calendar).

On this phone I disabled google calendar and installed an app called "Calendar". I like it but I can't get MPE to find it to sync.

On the phone MPE doesn't see the Calendar app. I did a "manage local calendars" but Calendar is not listed.
I did "Create new local calendar" to create a new calendar (Pete MPE).
But I can't find a way to view the events in Pete MPE.
On the desktop MPE finds Pete MPE but not Calendar.
On the phone, Calendar synces with Pete MPE but only manually using 3 steps.

I need one of three things.
(1) Get MPE to use Calendar on the phone
(2) Show me Pete MPE as a calendar (monthly, weekly, etc)
(3) Tell me about an android calendar app that MPE on the phone will find.

Any ideas?

I would either:

a) MPE on the phone: 'Manage local calendars' -> 'Create new local calendar'

or b) just prevent the Google calendar sync'ing with the 'cloud' and sync with that (which is what I do).

Your option "a" is what I did. I called it "Pete MPE". But how do I view Pete MPE?

I am trying your option "b" now. I need to create and delete a few events in TB and the phone to be sure it works both ways.

I think I would prefer "a" because for "b", "sync" with the cloud is just a flick away at the upper right.

Your calendar app will haver some form of setting for 'Calendars to Display'.

I am trying your option "b" now. I need to create and delete a few events in TB and the phone to be sure it works both ways.

Not sure how sync is 'just a flick away'. I have to go into the phones Settings > Cloud and Accounts > Accounts > Google ... to enable/disable sync (on ANDROID 7). I can't enable it from the calendar just by a 'flick'.

My phone doesn't have a Calendar app. It used google calendar. I tried a few other calendar apps but MPE on the phone couldn't "find" them .

The google calendar has three vertical dots at the upper right. If I forget what they are for and I double tap them it refreshes with the cloud. My bad, I know,..... I shouldn't do that but I know I will do it instead of going to the functions on the hamburg on the upper left to get what I want.

I think I will have to live with the unsynced google calendar.

Sorry for the hijack.
My outlook 2013 calendar sync to my phone but if I put something in my calendar on the phone its not going to outlook.
I have syn both ways set.

in myphonexplorer there are calendars listed eg My Calendar Samsung and google.

I have my calendar ticked only.

Problem is all outlook sync to phone but appointments made in phone do not transport to phone.
should I tick samsung phone instead? or should I tick both my calendar and samsung?
Will this create duplicates?
