TAB key in remote keyboard causes application to crash

I have been using MPE for a few years now, but for the past few weeks whenever I use the TAB key to change to a different input field (i.e. from Username to Password) as soon as I press TAB MPE crashes. I can use TAB OK in a text box, it's only when moving fields on a login screen or webpage.

MPE is version 1.8.5
OS is Windows 7 (x64)
Connected either by USB
Phone is Sony Experia Z1 C6903, stock OS (Android 4.3)
