Could Not Open COM7

Beitrag von kirkie »

If I disconnect my phone from my pc when MyPhoneExplorer is running then try to reconnect I get the above error. I still get it if MyPhoneExplorer is not running before I connect the phone.

I am using a W850i.

This problem has basicly nothing to do with MyPhoneExplorer. Normally the drivers of the USB-Cable make the virtual ports visible on every reconnect. Open the windows devicemanager and go to "Modems", then disconnect/reconnect the phone and look what happens.

Do I have to delete the old drivers 1st and if so how? Do I get the drivers from the disc that came with the phone?

Yes - deinstall the installed drivers. Delete it. Then disconnect your phone from the cable, insert the SE-CD and connect your phone again. Windows should ask for the drivers, they are located on the CD in the subfolder Drivers/DCU-60

Sorry for sounding thick, but is that Program files - Sony Ericsson - Mobile2 or Update Service as they both say drivers. Once in there do I delete the whole file saying drivers?

No. deinstall the drivers in the devicemanager - not in the Program-Files folder

When I plug my phone in it comes up with:

Sony Ericsson Device 038 USB WMC Data Modem
Sony Ericsson Device 038 USB WMC Modem

Is that right and is it both I delete & reinstall?

Correct - MyPhoneExplorer can use one of these two Ports and if you have a right configured System these two Ports will appear also after reconnecting the phone

I will give it a go as when I disconnect and connect again they are not showing and this is when I get the problem.
