how to make full backup of HTC one X

How do I make a full backup of my phone?
I tried with "make safety copy" and choosed for "programms".
After a restore, no programms have been put back and I had to install all programms again. Also no photo backup.
In the file of the backup, there were *.apk of all programms.

I'd like to make a full backup, with all programms, photos and setting of the phone. Is that possible or did I have to choose for the files also?

*.apk Files are application packages. You can put them back throught Files->Applications. A full backup with all settings and application data is technically not possible
