MyPhoneExplorer crashes when connecting on Vista 64

Beitrag von paulwasserman »

Myphoneexplorer crashes in Windows Vista 64bit whether I try to connect via WiFi or USB. In WiFi, it sees the phone, but crashes right after I enter the PIN. In USB, it crashes almost immediately. In both cases, it crashes when 'Initializing Connection'.

The phone (SCHI535, Samsung Galaxy S3) is set for USB debugging, and when I connect the phone, it does appear to install the ADB Drivers. On the phone MPE client, both USB and WiFi are active and waiting.

I have tried "Run as Administrator" and excluding myphoneexplorer.exe from DEP, but that makes no difference.

It looks like MPE is exactly what I need, but what can I do from here?

MPE crashes when connecting Samsung Galaxy SIII

Beitrag von kregster »

I have the same problem, but I am running WinXP Pro, SP3. I, too, have USB debugging enabled and have installed the adb.exe file as well as the latest SGSIII drivers from Verizon. Unlike my Samsung Fascinate, I only have two choices when connecting my phone to my laptop via USB: "Connect as Media device (MTP)" or as "Camera (PTP)"; I always choose Media device.

Just purchased my SGSIII and have been trying to sync Thunderbird with my new SGSIII via USB and Wi-fi for past 3 days. When connecting via USB, MPE crashes (i.e., 'MPE has stopped responding and Windows wishes to send a report to Microsoft') immediately when 'initializing connection'. Tried connecting via Wi-Fi, enter PIN, then phone shows phone is connected via Wi-Fi, but MPE shows a connection could not be made, then crashes.

I have had previous success the past 2 years with MPE and my Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate by Verizon.

What is the fix?!! Thanks.

Here's the Debug Log for a crashed WiFi connection. Looks like communication with the phone does get established, but then some AT commands error out? Can someone take a look at this?

USB and WiFi both work now. Syncs without a problem.

Thanks!
