MPE 1.8.2 is unable to sync with Outlook
I have upgraded MPE from 1.8.1 to 1.8.2 and I found that I am unable to sync my contacts and organizer with Outlook. I connect a Motorola Milestone 2 to MPE via WiFi.
Sync with MPE is OK but MPE is unable to access MS Outlook. Before the upgrade Outlook had post a form with question whether allow the app access to Outlook or not. Now it doesn't.
Unfortunatelly I can't find previous release on the site.

I am having the same problem.
Model of Phone: HTC Inspire 4G
Type of connection: WiFi IP
Widows Version: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Firmware Version:
Android 2.3.3
HTC Sense 2.1
Baseband 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
Kernel 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb
Build Number 2.47.502.7 CL93396
I tried all the connection types and got the same result.
When I select Sync it says Outlook but when it attempts to run it says "Connection to Outlook failed!".
HELP, Please.

I am having the same problem on a Droid X2 using WiFi. Windows Vista SP1 and Outlook 2007. Android version 2.3.4.
I get the same message "Connection to Outlook Failed". I also eventually get an error message "Folder xtructure from Outlook could not be listed!".
When I go into settings / Sync, I get a popup window that says "this action can not be completed because the other application is busy". Selecting either "switch to" or "retry" does nothing.
Update: I used task manager to kill the program, rebooted, and tried again and now all seems to be working fine.

I see no reason wha a reboot would be needed. Maybe Outlook was started with Admin-Permissions and MyPhoneExplorer with normal userpermissions. In this case the access to Outlook will not work

I didn't start either program any differently than any other time. It worked fine before the update to the latest release of MPE. After installing the latest release, it wouldn't work. Then after rebooting, and starting both programs as I always do, it worked fine again. Seems like the only change is the install process. That is why I thought maybe the install required a reboot. Otherwise I don't know why it wouldn't work after the install.

Same hassle
Me too. Same error message as mentioned above, immediately after installing 1.8.2 and trying to multisync with Outlook. Checked sync settings - all as before.
Exited MPE.
Left Outlook in its previous state (open).
Sync Contacts with Outlook from MPE.
No error message.
What did happen strangely was that some contacts which had previously been synced came up for synchronisation when I had not change them in either the phone or Outlook.
Looks to me like something afoot.

@bill and Gast: I cannot believe that it has to do with the new version, please go back to v1.8.1 from my Homepage and try again to verify
@dearth: This is cause MyPhoneExplorer 1.8.2 supports some more fields for Outlook-sync

FJ,
OK... I just installed 1.8.1 and then installed 1.8.2 over it.
When I started up 1.8.2, it connected to my phone ok, but I have the same problem I mentioned in my first post above in regards to Settings / Sync. I go into Contacts / Advanced settings and a window pops up that says "Folder structure from Outlook could not be listed" and I have the same error "this action can not be completed because the other application is busy".
Under Outlook folder to synchronize, it is blank.
When I click on the synchronize icon in the tool bar, it comes back with the same error "Connection to Outlook failed".
Instead of rebooting, I tried shutting down 1.8.2 and restarting it. This also took care of the problem. After restarting, it was able to sync fine.

Me too
Had the same Outlook synch problem too.
1 - Tried exiting Outlook, then running synch with Outlook stopped - it worked.
2 - Restarted Outlook - couldn't - told me Outlook was still running. Went into task manager and killed off a dead outlook32 process.
3 - Restarted Outlook, tried synching, failed once more.
4 - Went through the same cycle 1-3 with the same results.
5 - Exited MPE
6 - Restarted Outlook (after once more killing off a dormant Outlook32 process)
7 - Started MPE - Synch worked fine. Was able to exit outlook and restart without any stray Outlook32 processes hanging round, so all's well!!!
So seems like quitting MPE ( and maybe quitting Outlook) are necessary before trying to Synch the first time with MPE 1.8.2
Thanks for the great software all the same!!!
