Sort order of contact doesn't work after upgrade

Beitrag von Dingone »

Hello,
I have just upgraded my SE X10 to 2.3.3 and the client doesn't insert the contacts in Last Name, First Name sort order. Before in 2.2 was working.
Any suggestions?
Regards

In Android 2.3.3 the name-display is managed by Android itself, you can change the view in the settings of the contacts application

I wrote this issue to Sony Ericsson. The answer was, the native Android can't display the contacts by last name. If an mobile phone has this option (htc, Samsung), the manufacturer has made adjustments. The proposal of SE is to look for an app in the android market.

Maybe FJ could help us? ;-)

As mentioned by Marado SE hasn't implemented this option in the contacts setting. Strange is that with 2.2 the sort option was not there but I assume MPE was able to insert records in the sort order specified in the MPE plugin setup.

Maybe FJ can fix it for 2.3.3 ?

this is IMHO not a MPE problem but one of manufactures (Motorala, Sony Ericson) too lazy and/or too stupid to implement a non-kiddy sort order under Android 2.2.
as said by others v2.3 fixes the problem. in the meantime use another contact app. the most decent ones do have a working option for sort order.

MyPhoneExplorer did pre save the "Display name" for the contact so it was possible to change the sort order with this wrkaround. In Android 2.2 its no more possible to save the display-name cause it gets generated always from the system
