MPE not recognizing contacts format & creating duplicate

Beitrag von av8trx »

Samsung Captivate

After the trouble I had before I realized that MPE was using the contacts that were on the SIM card so I disabled that on the phone.

Went through cleaned up my OUtlook 2010 contacts, got rid of duplicates, etc.

Then I uninstalled MPE on the PC, & reinstalled. Set up sync partnership. MPE did an initial sync, showing no duplicate contacts. However, I noticed that MPE displays some names, firstname lastname and some lastname firstname. I doubled checked to make sure I had the format correct on both my phone and Outlook.

When I go to sync both ways, it asks if I want to create a new contact in Outlook, <no I do not want to create a duplicate in Outlook>. It seems that MPE is going to create a duplicate regardless of how I sync it.

It seems that MPE won't merge information or isn't recognizing contact data fields either from Outlook or Phone.

In Settings Advanced 1, I've set names to appear last then first. but the results are the same.

If names appear lastname first, then in right xxx the name and 'edit', the entire contact name appears in the first name field, even though the phone has the names in the correct field. If the name displays firstname first, the 'edit' shows the name fields to be correct.

What is going on & how do I fix this? I haven't done a sync in over a month out of dread and the hassle.

There is a macro half way down this thread that should deal with the order issue:

I don't think that's really the problem... In the phone itself, the names are in the proper field, nothing combined or anything like that. The same in Outlook 2010.

Researching the problem a little further... And it is really confusing...

As best as I can tell, MPE isn't reading the contact fields and wants to create a duplicate of almost every contact.

Step by step

MyPhoneExplorer tries on the initial sync to link the Outlook-Contacts to the phone contacts by Contact-Name -> could this explain your problem ?

Which android-Version you have on the phone ?
