Just installed MPE on my Windows 7 64-bit system for use with HTC Desire. I like MPE and will recommend it to others but the installation process was not smooth.
MPE initially refused to install and kept saying DLLs were missing. In the end I solved the problem by deactivating my antivirus protection, something one should never have to do when installing a program.
My Kaspersky AV protection the threw up red warnings saying that MPE was trying to do dangerous things with my system and did I trust it ?
Windows warned me during installation that MPE could be a risk because the publisher is unkknown. Surely it is possible to equip the installation package with a certificate of provenance.
When the installation was complete I couldn't get the phone to connect to the PC. In the end I discovered that it had something to do with a Debugger on the phone. As a simple mortal I hadn't a clue what this means and spent a lot of time trying to find out and correct the problem.
The phone still wouldn't connect to the PC and in the end I discovered that I needed to install a MPE client on the phone.
A suggestion: post a simple "1., 2., 3. " set of installation steps and instructions on the website so that ordinary mortals can install MPE and get it working in 5 minutes. I looked for such a set of instructions but couldn't find them.
Thanks
MPE Installation suggestions
I cannot reproduce this problems, the setup just does normal things. Nothing special. It copies also some librarys on PC which are needed to run the software. But maybe i had no problems due installing cause i use a AV-Software which does not warn about EVERY maybe important system-change.MPE initially refused to install and kept saying DLLs were missing. Freeware has often not a registred publisher. I tried to get some years ago a VeriSign-label but it failed cause my company name is identical to my real name.Windows warned me during installation that MPE could be a risk because the publisher is unkknown. You try to connect a Android-phone. it does not work so a error-message appears. Inb this errormessage there is a Help-Button -> is it so hard to click on this button ? There you find the tipps (including enabling the USB-Debugging or that you have to download the client from market if you use WiFi)When the installation was complete I couldn't get the phone to connect to the PC.
