Android Sound Notification not fully played for duration

I notice that when my phone is connected to MPE, and there's a message that comes in, my phone will play the notification sound for just about a short 1-2 seconds and gets cut off because the message is being loaded to MPE on the desktop. Anyway to let the phone continue to play the full sound duration?

-edit- In fact sometimes there is no sound notification at all from my phone. I am guessing it might be because I am using ChompSMS as my SMS app too and hence, I disabled the sound notification of the stock SMS app. Anyway you can do a work around on this? I do not want to enable the sound notification on my computer even though I know that is possible.
