OK, could you reproduce it with hyperterminal ? Press the Esc-Key as last "strange" character.

>Local echo was off in hyperterminal, baudrate was the same as in MPE, I used 8 bits, no parity and no handshaking. The message string (after the > sign) did not give an echo from the phone, unlike the other commands. After typing the message I could not get any reponse from the phone via hyperterminal. The SMS was send, I did get a reply.

PS. I see there is a firmware update for my phone available. I think I will install that and try again.
