Confused Outlook vs gmail
Confused Outlook vs gmail
I am confused with what MPE is doing with my Outlook 2013 contacts vs my gmail contacts and email. I would like to sync just my Outlook contacts to my phone. But instead MPE is creating contacts from my email in gmail. So it creates contacts for email that I sent to one person at one time only. Why is it doing this? I don't even see a config option to disable pulling contacts from gmail.
Check the MPE app settings on the phone - 'Add new contacts to', it'll probably point to your 'google' account on the phone. Since Android 4.x 9I forget which version) I don't believe their is a native 'phone' account to add contacts to, though you can set one up and should 'search' the forums here for similar problems as that solution is given (I'd tell you but can't remember what it is ... doh!).
However, if you want to sync your Outlook contacts with the phone and NOT sync your gmail stuff, then turn off google contact sync. That way you have the Google account on your phone but it only syncs via MPE when you want it to.

I have Google contact sync off. I checked the MPE settings on the phone and it's set to add contacts to phone.
The MPE desktop utility it showing contacts that it is generating from emails I sent in gmail. Even my gmail contacts does not have these setup as contacts. I don't understand why they are appearing as contacts in MPE.

It's always difficult trying to diagnose issues like this over a forum - it's probably something simple that someone else would pick up in a short time. No disrespect meant - I'm just saying that we all tend to look at problems like this from a very narrow viewpoint. I find that sleeping on it sometimes does the trick
Anyhow, you say you use gmail - and that you use Outlook 2013? I'm also assuming that you sync MPE with just Outlook 2013? Do you use Outlook for your gmail? If so, then in Outlook 2010 (which I use) there is a setting in File > Advancded > Contacts which you can tick to say 'Automatically create Outlook contacts for recipients that do not belong to an Outlook Address Book'. Is that what's happening here?
