Date and Time are wrong when sync with Outlook Calendar

Beitrag von ALo »

I am using Outlook 2003 SP3 on Windows XP SP3.
MPE 1.8.4 and MPE Client 1.0.23
The Regional Setting on my Windows is "English (Philippines)"
Phone is Samsung Notes
The Regional Date and Time is set by the system which is "English (Hong Kong)"
The Philippines and Hong Kong has the same Time Zone.

I have an event in my Outlook Calender marked "11:30am 26 February". But when I sync my phone with MPE, the date on my phone became "2:30pm 27 February" - One day and 3 hours ahead of my Outlook calendar. Date and time remain unchanged (good) on Outlook Calendar.

Anything I can do or there is a bug somewhere?

Thanks a lot.
Love the software

Maybe it helps if you switch the Outlook interface to the older mode:
- Start-Run-%appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer\general.ini-OK
- a textfile shuld open, add this line below [Main]: UseOutlookObjectModel=1
- save the file
- try to sync again

I experience exactly the same problem but syncing to Thunderbird with Lightning Calendar Add-on.

Just in case, I tried the option you recommended but it didn't change anything for me.

@Azol: How are the items displayed in the calendar of MyPhoneExplorer ? Correct or wrong ?

If I venture to sync them - then they are displayed wrong.

There were several appointments (all day, recurring) that were created on the phone, but after syncing they got shifted for +1 hour in Thunderbird, i.e. from 01:00 till 01:00 of the next day.
I have manually recreated these in Thunderbird (deleting the old ones in the phone), but after several sync operations several of these appointments are detected by MyPhoneExplorer as described in the 1st post in this thread - 1 day earlier than their actual date in Thunderbird.

Were you able to reproduce this erratic behavior?

I re-checked the timezone setting and I have the same timezone set both on the phone and on my computer.

I, too, have this problem. A 6:00 appointment in Thunderbird shows up in MPE as 5:00. As an experiment, I entered a 6:00 appointment in MPE and synchronized. It shows up as 6:00 in MPE, but 7:00 in both Thunderbird and my Android calendar. I have experimented with the Windows option to [x] Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time. Neither being checked or unchecked has an affect. The timezone is set to Central time for Windows, Google Calendar and my Android device.

And it didn't seem to always be this way. I don't know exactly what changed when it started to happen, but, try as I might, I can't make it stop.

This is a real deal killer. This problem makes the whole application worthless, I am sorry to say.

@J1PEccp: Thunderbird Lightning has its own Timezone settings for each calendar. Don't blame on MyPhoneExplorer when you are not able to set up your system correctly

@Azol: Did you try the workaround from my first post ?

... but I will gladly blame you for being a jerk. What a ridiculous, useless comment.

I have set **all** of my time zone settings to my real time zone ... including my Lightning calendar. If you know of some magic setting, it would be wonderful if you shared it instead of spouting off with an unwarranted, inconsiderate accusation of my incompetence.

Upon further investigation, it seems that it is really MyPhoneExplorer that shows the wrong appointment time in it's calendar. Synchronizing between my desktop and handheld retains the right time, but the time is shown in MPE as being 1 hour ahead. Is there some hidden time zone setting that you have not chosen to reveal to simple users such as us?

Yes, but it didn't help. I already stated it in my 1st post in this thread.

Timezone in Lightning is not a per-calendar setting, it's one single setting for all calendars you create in Lightning (at least it is true for local calendars).

Which timezone setting MPE uses? The one set in OS?

@J1PEccp: Please contact me via Skype-Chat, then i will do some checks via TeamViewer on your PC

@Azol: MyPhoneExplorer does use for the own calendar the Windows Timezone. All Date-Values from/to phone and from/to Thunderbrid are handled in UTC - so without any Timezone relation
