Dividing the backup file into smaller files

I work with a phone that has its sync stuck if it takes too long.

Since the backup file is really a text file, can I divide it into multiple smaller files and restore them one by one? Will it work or will each file delete items that were restored by the other files?

You can devide the backup file into smaller peaces,
but then you should not restore them!
Instead of restoring, do an import from that peaces.
