My phone has WIFI and I can connect to Facebook and webpages, but lately the MPE icon on the status bar of my phone is gray instead of blue, and I can not connect to the desktop client?
Any ideas?
Thanks! |

Still can no longer connect. I have the phones MAC address reserved in the router as 192.168.1.10 and the phone's WIFI connects to the internet for Facebook and Firefox.
When I start MPE on the phone, the icon is still gray. When I press MPE app again, MPE shows "WiFi Connected to NETGEAR (192.168.1.10) WiFi PIN xxxxx"
MPE correctly shows there is NO bluetooth computer and the phone is not connected to USB. (red X)

More info.
I just got a new cablemodem that has a built in router.
My computer is connected to this (motorola) cablemodem, but the MPE is connected by WiFi to a Netgear router that is attached to the last (of 4) port to the cablemodem.
If I connect my computer to the router, MPE works. Is there any work-around so that I can keep my computer connected to the motorola modem/router, or should I just keep it connected to the netgear router? |

1.8.4 and 1.0.22
like I said, I got a new (motorola) cablemodem with a built in router. I prefer to have my computer plugged into one of it's ports. I also have a Netgear router that plugs onto one of the modem/router ports. I use this router for the WiFi.
In order for MPE to work, I need to have my computer plugged into the Netgear router (with the WiFi).
I supposed everything on your program is working correctly. My question is if there is a setting in the modem or router (forwarding?) so that I can access MPE through the WiFi of my Netgear while my computer is plugged into the motorola modem/router?
Thanks for your follow through and GREAT program! |

With your environment its not possible that MyPhoneExplorer will connect automatically cause the Motorola and Netgear router have different subnet ip ranges so the UDP broadcasts will not reach the right end (the broadcasts are sent throught Port 5211 and 5212).
But it should work if you initiate the connection from MyPhoneExplorer on the PC with the setting "Fixed IP" |

I plugged my computer back into the motorola modem/router. I made sure I was on the internet by accessing a web page. I went to my phone and started MPE and looked at it's screen. It said it's address was 192.168.1.2 so I put that into the desktop MPE Fixed IP setting. I could not get a connection.
Putting my computer on the Netgear router is not my first choice, but I will so this program works.
Thanks for your time and suggestions. |

Just for my understanding: You have a motorola Modem and a Netgear Router. The "normal" way to etablish this home network would be:
Phone cable->Motorola Modem->Netgear Router->PC (throught cable or WiFi)
and Netgear Router-> Phone (though WiFi)
Why you have connected your computer directly to the modem ? |

The Motorola device is a modem with built in 4-port router. It got bad reviews for it's WiFi, and I needed more then 4 ports anyway, so my plan was to use the Motorola Modem/Router for 3 of my most important devices, and the last port to feed the Netgear router and use it's ports for less important devices and also use it's WiFi (connects to my phone) which works great.
I wanted to just keep the essential stuff on the first device and use a UPS battery backup.
It's just my personal logic of connecting stuff in order of importance TO ME, and not have to run all of my computer's internet through a 2nd device if it wasn't necessary. Since I can't connect my computer to the Phone via MPE while on the Motorola, I will plug into the Netgear and it will all work.
I hope I'm not making your head spin!
Thanks again! |

OK, anyway - its a normal TCP connection and it should work at least throught option "Fixed IP". By the way: 5211 and 5212 is used for broadcasting (not needed on option "Fixed IP"). The real connection runs throught port 5210, in case you want to try with port forwarding... |

I want to try the port forwarding option, if anything, just for the education of learning this network stuff. Would I setup the rule in the Motorola modem/router (that my computer is connected to) or the Netgear router (that is used for the WiFi)?
Thanks! |
