Sync options - I don't understand

OK I just installed MPE v1.8.2 (v1.8.4 crashes when I attempt to set the advance options in the settings).

Prior to using MPE I used the Samsung Kies application so I have over 1000 valid contacts on my phone, plus all of my calendar, task and notes.

As a side issue - the Notes will not sync with MPE - I'll open another thread on this.

Back to my sync question - Because I already have the contacts on both MPE is not smart enough to realize that they are the same thus it defaults to adding the contact in Outlook.

To eliminate the confusion I set the option to force all contacts to be put on the phone. When I ran the sync MPE stated that it was going to delete the contacts on my phone, each was listed and I assume that the entire list is all of my 1000+ contacts. Was this the correct action?

As the sync process runs I see contact records being deleted on the phone. There appears to be no order as to how the contacts are being deleted plus this is taking a long time, my guess is that this first sync will take about 15 minutes.

I'm still not sure if I originally took the correct option. All of the contacts were deleted off of my phone (bummer) but they were NOT deleted in Outlook (YEA). After the sync I could not look at my Outlook address book, it seems that MPE had locked it (this is not good).

I rebooted my PC, opened MPE, now it shows all of my address books, I selected the desired address book and the option to sync both (Outlook and MPE).

I then kicked off the sync, this will be another long run. Actually the previous run was about 30 minutes thus I expect the same for this run but I expect future syncs to be MUCH shorter.

OK now have my contacts on my phone and Outlook in-sync. I'll do more testing later next week.

Now on to my calendar, task and notes
