Keeping Work and Personal Contacts separate

Beitrag von cal »

First, thank you very much for the software.

I'm new to Android, and trying to set up my contacts similar to how I had them working on Blackberry (although Android works differently). The main issue is I need to keep my personal info off of my employers Outlook.

I have three sets of contacts, all of which I would like to see on my phone. However, I would like them to sync separately with their source of origin.

A) My current work contacts which originate from my Outlook at work (SET A): I think these sync via Active Sync through my employers Microsoft Exchange system, OTA to my phone. I do NOT want any of the Set B or C contacts going my Outlook at work or otherwise going through my employers systems.

B) My personal contacts in my personal Gmail (SET B): These sync OTA, I assume via Gmail servers.

The above two sets of contacts appear together on my phone, and so far, appear to both sync and stay separate at their respective sources of origin, as I would like.

C) Professional contacts I have accumulated over the years residing in a personal Outlook database on my home computer (SET C). These need to appear on the phone, but not sync to Set A (work) or B (gmail).

My research before I bought the phone brought me to MPE as a way to set this up. The way I understood MPE would work is
1) as a conduit to sync between my personal Outlook database to my phone; and
2) as a combined depository of all my contacts, mirroring the combined data that appear on the phone.

My first few hours of this today led to all (A, B and C) contacts ending up on my work Outlook. My second attempt duplicated all my contacts on my phone. I finally got both fixed, but I don't want to mess this up again, thus I read through a years worth of posts on this this forum and I am posting for help, advice, and direction.

Can I accomplish
1) above (getting set C onto my phone) by deleting all the Set A & B contacts that have made their way into MPE, setting the MPE client on the phone to "Contact - accounts to sync" and checking only "Phone," and then syncing my personal Outlook to MPE?
2) Can I obtain a combined depository of all my combined contacts with MPE? If not, does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You can select diffrent Contact Accounts to sync but MyPhoneExplorer does "see" one contactdatabase so probably its not the best solution if you need to sync three diffrent contact types to different destinations. But you can use it at least for one contact type
