I decided to get rid of google on my phone, so I simply do not log in with a google account. I can synchronise the contacts between Thunderbird and my HTC Desire, but when I'm trying to synchronise the calendar i get the following error message: "There are no calendars on the phone! Create a test-appointment on the phone to ensure that a calendar exist"
Obviously I cannot create a test appointment without using a google account...
Any ideas how to overcome this???

HTC Phones do have a local "PC Suite" calendar which can be synced. You did install another costom ROM -> then you will have to use the Google Calendar |

The HTC default calendar is called "PC Sync", you can try using a non-default Calendar app like Jorte or Business Calendar Pro to create it. |

Thank you for your answers. Jorte and Business Calendar still wants to use google calendar.
and you are also right: I am using cyanogenmod
Any other ideas, suggestions?

Go into the MPE Client settings - 'Calendars to Sync'. PC Sync should be in there. |

The PC Sync Calendar is available only for the original firmware, not for CyagenMod |
