MPE Tasks possible bug

Beitrag von madhoo »

I have been using MPE on my HTC Desire for some time and this app makes the smartphone really a practical and secure business tool. So a great job.

I have recently started to use tasks. There apear to be couple of bugs with tasks. Although app is still usable but bugs are a little annoying

(i) firstly the date/time labels are inconsistent.

PC HTC
===== =====
Time Start Date - a bit confusing
Due Date Due Date - this is ok
Reminder Reminder - this is ok

May be there is a reason for the inconsistency so will appreciate an explanation.

(ii) Secondly, all of the above dates seem to change automatically as if there is some sort of built in relationship between them. Are there some rules that I should be aware of. Will appreciate your help on this.

1) You are right. I will try to explain. On the PC-Version of MyPhoneExplorer the label is called "Time" cause this was shown also in earlier supported SonyEricsson phones. On the Android App i tried to focus on the main usage - to sync with Outlook so i called it "Start date". I did not notice this inconsistency so clear as you ;-)

2) When they do change ? On sync ? Do you sync only MyPhoneExplorer or also Outlook ? Maybe its a timezone issue, do you change the timezone of the phone regulary ?

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

The issue with changing of the doesn't appear to be linked to sync. It seems that if you change the start date then the due date also changes. Now that I have worked this out I can work around the issue. I follow the following sequence which apears to work:

(i) change start date - then save and sync
(ii) then change the due date and reminder and sync again

However, it would be better if the dates can be changed independently.

This should not happen. I could not reproduce this issue on my phone. Can you list every step to reproduce this behaviour ?

Linked to Thunderbird

Beitrag von madhoo »

Hi

I can now see that the problem is caused when syncing with Thunderbird Callendar. In Thunderbierd the start date and end date seems (i.e. duration) to be locked after the first creation of the task. Therefore, if you try to change the dates in MPE Task, the duration is always controlled by Thunderbird. There appears to be no settings in Thunderbird (none that I can find) that will allow to overide this hard link on duration.

Now that I know the reason, I can be carefull when changing the date. It would be nice to have the full control of changing dates from MPE as this is where I am working on tasks most of the time. Having a sync with Thunderbird is just a matter of convenience
