Sync vs. Download

Hello To All...

Not to sound completely stupid (just partially ) but what is the actual operational difference(s) between the actions Sync With Outlook and Download Entire?

What is actually being sync'd with Outlook; the MPE program, the phone or both? Same question applies to the Download Entire. To me they seem to be one in the same but then I'm sure I'm missing something.

Download takes data from one place and copies to another place.
Sync copies the most recent data in either direction.

"Download entire" does overwrite the whole content in MPE with fresh data from the phone. Outlook is unaffected on this action

i would like to know where "Download Entire" will go ...
i want to download the contact list (export), i did click "download entire" but i dont underrstand where the file will be saved ...

You want to export your contact list? Bring it up in MPE, right-click on a contact then select Export/Import and make your choice.

i didnt know that, i have already exported my entire Phone Book list on a .csv file

but still wondering where the file "Download Entire" is going, i did it, it took a couple of minutes, but it didnt ask me where to save ... so i dont know where is located such download ...

I suppose that it was downloaded from the phone into MPE and not as a separate file.

maybe i did not explain clearly ...

i opened the MPE on my pc ... i have sync phone and pc ... so now i am sure that on my pc i have the most updated contact book

on top of the contact list there is a buttom for "download entire", i click on it and the pc take few minutes to initaliazing and download the list ... but my question is where is it?

on my MPE i have these folders: hilidays, languages and DLL ... and some other files which dont seems to be list ...

i am sure someone before has downloaded the thing ... where did it go?

i also have find mine same place at
C:\Documents and Settings\Vito\Application Data\MyPhoneExplorer\HTC Wildfire\Phonebook.dat

i am taking advantages of your knowledge and kindness and shoting 2 more questions:
a) can i choose a different destination folder for my "Download Entire"?
b) how do i suppose to open and use a .dat file? i mean if i want to use or import in my other contact books, do i need to convert the .dat file into a .csv file ...

a) I don't know but I don't think this is possible.
b) To export your phonebook, why not simply right-click it in MPE and choose Export/Import?

"Download entire" is used to download the whole content into MyPhoneExplorer. From there you can do exports and whatever. The *.dat-Files are not made for you, they are app internal
