Please see my reply below - however this is what I thought before I new it was "Open Candy" -
I was surprised not to find many posts about this already - and equally surprised that the the installer for 1.8.2 includes Internet explorer 9.
The whole reason I have an android with MPE is to get away from Microsoft products - so to have this "forced" on me in the installer is unbelievable.
There isn't even a "no thank you" option - it just aborts the whole installation if I am not mistaken.
MPE is a fantastic piece of software - this is a PR disaster - why do it?
Also there's absolutely nothing about this on the home page, which there should at least be.
Really I am shocked.

Open Candy
OK - so I have since realised that this is part of the "open candy" thing that is now at the bottom of the user agreement. So having aborted installation once, it now is trying to get me to install something else - so it's not IE9 that's bundled.
However this is still extremely annoying, and the way it appears in the installation process it seems that you have no choice but to install other 3rd party software that you don't want.
Either way this really detracts from an otherwise excellent package.
I also think it will discourage donations.

Open Candy
Now I am even more confused.
Today I tried installing again, and no sign of Open Candy, and installation completed properly.
I am pleased to have been able to install the update, however most of what I posted above still stands.

There are many popular apps which host advertisments in the setup (Winamp, Nero, Frostwire,.....). In my opinion this is not so problematic as long the application is add free. The setup is not launched very often.
The advertised software must be OPTIONAL, if this is not the case then please make a screnshot and i'll contact my advertising partner.
I don't know why the advertisment did not appear on the last try. Maybe there was a problem with network (the Adds and the promoted setups are not included in the setup, they get loaded from OpenCandy Server)
