I have a problem with myphoneexplorer which is infuriating to say the least. Until about a week ago I have been able to connect to my phone no problem via my router's wifi. It has never caused any issues.
Then the random problem - I can no longer connect. I just get "Connection to phone could not be established: Failed to obtain the IP Address of the phone" - fair enough. But nothing has changed:
* Wifi is enabled on my phone and works fine for web browsing etc
* The MPE client is loaded on the phone with all options set as they usually would be
* I have tried setting different IP addresses and connecting manually by setting a fixed IP, but this doesn't work either.
Does anybody know why this has suddenly started happening? Even re-installing the MPE Android app or the MPE Windows App has not made any difference!
Thanks
Why can I no longer connect to x10 via WiFi?!
I've had exactly the same problem. I have a Samsung Nexus S and up until about a week ago, it was connecting easily through our WiFi network. Now it will not connect and brings up the message "Failed to obtain the IP address of the phone."
We installed a new router yesterday and the phone is connected to it through the wireless network, so the router does not appear to be the problem. I have tried the same settings and options as FJ, with no result.
I have no idea why it's happening, FJ, but I'm pleased to see that it's not just me who has the problem! If anyone can help, I'd be very grateful.

Your firewall could also raise the problem, please check if MyPhoneExplorer can send and receive UDP-Broadcasts throught your firewall.
PS.: If you did set up a new router then check also the routers configuration, sometimes they does not allow UDP-Broadcasts so that devices in local LAN cannot find each other

Thanks, FJ. It started working again with my new laptop. I tried rebooting the phone before starting MyPhoneExplorer on the phone and it worked. Had to do it the next time I tried to connect, but since then has worked without rebooting.
I'll check the UDP broadcasts as well. Thanks again for the advice.
