I love MPE's functionality (and donated), but... Over 4 months, Droid2 Global has been completely discharging once every couple weeks at night (GMT-7). Happened on 2 phones. Only thing in common: MPE Client, used to sync with Outlook (contacts/calendar) on demand. MPE was not running when this happened. Verizon made me remove the app, and now the phone lasts for two days on standby! ???? What does MPE do periodically (on the order of weekly) even if you don't start the client that can drain the battery overnight? More importantly, how can I get it to STOP? If I can't get this to stop killing my phone, I'll have to switch to another means of sync (or, thinking of switching to iPhone).
Note 2011/06/11: 2 Other Droid 2 Globals here have been having this problem. Looking at a phone Verizon hasn't reloaded yet, to determine the release -- running MPE client 1.8.1; latest version, no updates available. None of the reload phones (without MPE) are discharging at night any more, so MPE is almost certainly part the problem.
HELP! We are leagally prohibited from storing our sync lists in the cloud!

Hi,
You are correct -- sort of...
This problem occurs on phones upgraded from the beta. 100% of the time, if we do a factory reset on the upgraded phones and reinstall 1.8.1, the problem goes away. It does not happen to phones that never used the beta client. One theory (from the Verizon / Droid specialists) is that there were debug settings in the beta.
Thanks for your help. I think (cross your fingers) the problem is solved.
PS: I'd love a better explanation if this rings any bells with you.

If there is no "Testbutton" visible in the view of MPE Client then debugging is disabled. I don't think this is the problem.
One change in the beta is that MyPhoneExplorer gets closed now the recommened way - the app keeps pausing in Memory, earlier versions did kill the process . But this way is not recommened and makes problems on new models.
What if you uninstall the client from phone, does the problem disappear in this case ?

I'm not sure you understand. On some of our phones, we were running a beta client that came out BEFORE 1.8.1, and then we upgraded to 1.8.1. These phones are the ones that periodically drained their batteries. We reset those phones to factory, then installed 1.8.1, and the problem is gone (we think).
We are not running a beta that came out after the 1.8.1 release (nor were we aware that one exists).
The problem disappeared when we reset the upgraded phones and reinstalled 1.8.1. Unless it comes back, there is no way to reproduce the problem, because we don't know how to get the old beta.

OK
There were never a client-version 1.8.1 - this is the PC-Version. The client is installed on phone and currently we have Version 1.0.10
MyPhoneExplorer 1.8.1 did install MyPhoneExplorer Client 1.0.7, so i think its the easiest you try it with Client v1.0.6 and then tell be about your results (install this on phone): www.fjsoft.at/files/mpeclient_1.0.6.apk
If you connect MyPhoneExplorer 1.8.1 to this client then you will get a message telling you should update -> click no or abort.

Yes, I just checked my phone, and you are right. The client we currently run is 1.0.10 and the PC component is 1.8.1. Sorry for confusing the issue. I should have said: We were running the beta client that came before version 1.0.10 and the PC component that we installed in January (I think it was 1.8.0) before we updated and had the problem.
HOWEVER...
The problem is gone since we reset the phones and installed Version 1.8.1 and the 1.0.10 client. The only phone that continued to have the battery problem turned out to be defective -- it crashed repeatedly during reset. Verizon sent us a replacement.
You can close this case. Everything seems to work now. Thank you for trying to help.
