Hi
I have been a fan of myphoneexplorer for many years, through many Sony Ericsson phones.
I was hoping to continue using it but I can't seem to get it working and it driving me nuts. (':?') ('') ('')
I've tried Autodetect, USB and WiFi, constantly get error message :-
Connection to phone could not be established:
No device attached to USB.
but it is connected! What is going on?
What would be nice, would be to talk to a Human who can talk me through a solution.
('')
Ok Laptop running Vista (Ultimate), so will I need to load USB- (ADB-)drivers, if I do where and how would I get and install them?
Phone said something about USB-Debugging mode but where do I look and how would I change it?
How can it be that the more advanced things get the harder it is to get them to work together, call me old fashioned but I thought that was the way advancement was judged. Maybe I'm prob just not keeping up with thing
Its not possible to remove this steps cause those things are needed that a connection can work, its caused by Android and not by MyPhoneExplorer.
- the drivers are included in KIES
- USB-Debugging can be enable in Settings-Applications-Development-USB-Debugging
FJ remove what step ?
I have Kies installed, are you saying I need to run it at the same time or does the fact I have it installed mean that I have completed the step you say I can't remove?
'Settings-Applications-Development-USB-Debugging' - setting where for what program.
I am not a computer programer I am a simple end user who want to be able to manage the contents of my Android phone.
I am the target market for your product, you will loose me and thousands of other users if getting it to work take lots of work. The number of times I access setting for anything I in a year I can count on one hand. How would I know to '- USB-Debugging can be enable in Settings-Applications-Development-USB-Debugging'
You got to make it simpler or go the same way as the Dinosaurs, being confined to history as a program people use up until phones got smart.
In short - What exactly do I have to do to get it working
or as a end user not a programer should I give up and find another program that is simpler to install ?
Steve,
Did you get USB-debugging working? It sounds like you figured to touch the menu button on the home screen, select 'Settings' (also available in the program list). Then select 'Applications', then 'Development' and check the "USB debugging" option.
If you do an internet search for 'samsung kies', you'll be directed to the Samsung website to download Kies 2.0. This will contain the updated drivers. I used another method on my computer, but this will work. Other posters have said not to have Kies & MyPhoneExplorer (MPE) running at the same time, so you should follow this advice.
Once you have installed Kies, the drivers should be installed as well.
when connecting your phone to the computer via USB, make sure not to enable the "storage" option on the phone. When I am in 'debugging' mode, I don't get this option, but if you do, make sure not to check it. If there is a "charge" mode, just use this.
Fire up MPE and configure it to connect to your phone. This should work.
One last point, FJ has created a really great product in his spare time and made it available to us for free. I've research a TON of different sync programs on Android and this is my favorite in terms of simplicity and flexibility. FJ deserves our thanks and donations.

After a long struggle of many hours fiddling with various setting I am VERY HAPPY to report that all is well with the world and I can use MyPhoneExplorer with my Galaxy S II.
Not sure what I did but it now works although it does time out and needs to be initialized every now and then, I suspect a power saving function of the phone that I can live with
Steve, that's awesome to hear! I hope you enjoy the SGSII (which we are jealously waiting for here in the States).

OK, i will describe it again for you - the basic cause why you have to set up the connection...
If you bought your S2, then you got also KIES - the Software from Samsung. The producer - Samsung - can modify the software of the phone so when you get the phone then its really plug&play and you can use KIES out of the box (if KIES is a good software or not is another story).
On the opposite is MyPhoneExplorer - a free tool which works with all Android-Phones (currently about 476 compatible models if Google Market shows me the right statistics). And cause of this wide range you have to do some things manually on the first setup. noma_pride did already a good job in support so my part is only informative
@noma_pride: I have also already the S2 and i love it !
