Fortunately I select to show the confirmation window before syncing and check the changes it wants to make first. There's nearly always something I need to change. Right now though it's gone completely crazy. It seems to be trying to update most if not all contacts and when comparing details on phone and PC it shows completely different contacts. It would replace contact A with contact Z, P with D and I don't know what, apparently randomly.
I've created a new address book in Thunderbird as backup to which I can quickly copy my good addresses for safety. Otherwise if I accidentally click OK instead of Abort I think it would be a mess.
It was working previously but this is my first sync in a fortnight.
Android/T'bird contact sync gone wild.

maybe give this a try:
1) disable MPE / thunderbird sync
2) select "download entire" to download your entire phonebook into mpe
3) re-enable your MPE-thunderbird sync
4) try to sync
If this doesnt help, please send a copy of the debug.log to fj!

Have you tried the Android Guide and FAQ for MyPhoneExplorer?
