adb.exe not unloading

Hello,

Love the program as it saves me from having to keep my contacts on G's server and for other reasons, but I seem to have an issue:

Windows 7
Droid X
Android 2.2
MPE 1.8.0
USB connected

When I exit the program on the PC, adb.exe does not unload and that prevents me from safely ejecting the phone. Is there a particular order to the disconnect process I should be following or....?

If it means anything, when I start the program on the PC it spawns two instances of adb.exe and one exits almost immediately.

Just found this post but it did not offer a solution...

adb.exe keeps running cause it needs about 4 seconds to start it again. If you connect the phone in "Charge only" mode then you can just unplug the phone. besides this you can access the Memorycard with MyPhoneExplorer in this mode

Maybe so but you're still left with a rogue adb.exe process running until next reboot or restart.
