Hi,
I hope you had a great Christmas.
I have an issue with field matching when synchonising MPE contacts with my SE Xperia X10a.
The MPE "Email" field maps to the X10a's "Other" Phonebook field. This is incorrect.
Details of my setup are:
Phone: SE Xperia X10a - Build 2.0.A.0.504 (Android V2.1)
Android Client: V1.0.6
MPE: V1.8.0
Windows 7 x86.
I hope you can help me out.
Regards
John
MPE Contact Sync with SE Xperia X10a
Hi,
I have stumbled across another challenge Andoid V2.1 has provided for you. (Undocumented feature - I have not found this covered in the user's guide)
Andoid has introduced the concept of "Phone Contact" and "Gmail Contact".
When MPE syncs contacts to the Phone, it seems to define them as "Phone Contacts" and these contactes will not sync with Gmail. There seems to be no way of redefining a "Phone Contact" to be "Gmail Contact".
You can read the sorry saga in this forum.

FJ,
I appreciate all your good work. Well done.
Bluetooth connectivity would be very welcome. Given the lack of BT functionality between the X10 and other devices in particular my laptop, I can only assume there is a lack of bluetooth profiles in the phone. (Unlike the Symbian cousins).
How do you plan to develop the functionality? Are you going to develop your own BT profiles or are you going to develop a proprietory app similar to the app you developed for the android market?

Franz,
Interesting.... if you read the X10 whitepaper, that BT functionality should already be there. I believe SE have under delivered on their specification.
If you tackle SE on the issue, all they say is the third party BT devices are incompatible and that's why they don't work. SE are just being dishonest.
What about other Android phone makers, do they have the same issue? Is it a limitation in the Android Operating System?

What i can say is that there are no supported profiles on a fresh X10 with Android 2.1. It seems that its not a limitation - they are just missing. Its possible on Android that applications can create BT-Services. f.e. SPP, DUN, ....
Please contact me via email and tell me which Bluetooth-Software you are using on PC.
