Hello. I just purchased a Droid 2. I wish to sync my Outlook 2007 contacts and calendar to the Droid 2, however my carrier's arrangement forces me to sync through Google. I will not sync through Google.
A very nice tech support rep at Verizon suggested MyPhoneExplorer's Client at the Droid Marketplace. It seems popular. However it says nothing about direct syncing/avoiding syncing the data to Google.
Does this product allow me to sync my Outlook information directly to my Droid 2 without any of the information going to another party like Google?
Thank You. |

You can use MPE without the need to sync to Google. Just set the MPE client config on your android accordingly. |

MyPhoneExplorer does sync only local, without connecting in any way to Google.
But on many devices you have to set up a Google Calendar-Account so you can use the phones calendar-application. If you have done this then you can disable the automatic Sync to Google in the settings. |

I was using MPE to sync my Outlook contacts and calendar on my Droid X locally via USB. There were some glitches but it was working ok. But I just got a Verizon update (2.3.340) and now even though I can still sync with MPE, none of the information will STAY in the native droid calendar unless I allow it to sync through Google. I can't even see my native calendar OR add a new event unless I allow Google sync. This does not appear to be a MPE issue but maybe they can solve it.
Maybe non-Verizon droid users won't have this problem but right now I have nothing nice to say about Verizon OR Google. Due to professional confidentialities I cannot allow sync via internet. Beware this may be your problem, too. |

Thanks Guest. That is right on the money. I'll see if I can get a response from the kind folks here directly: see whether they keep up with the carriers attempts to block our use of our phones as we see fit. If not then it's a cheap Palm type device and back to carrying two devices once more for as you said there are things in my contacts that are not for Google's very hackable storage pools to see. |

Hi
I have an X10 mini pro that sync with Outlook localy trough MPE without Google. It was working OK vid android 1. Both calendar and contacts was syncronized. When updated to android to 2.1 and I sync my phone trough MPE no calendar items are syncronized to my phone.
I can see that my phone explorer is syncronized with outlook but I don't see the calendar items in my phone calendar.
Contacts are syncronized alright.
Do you think that the X10 mini pro is a device that need Google ?
I am not sure how to set up a Google Calendar-Account.
Any suggestion where to get help ? |

One of the problems I came across the first time I tried MPE with my HTC Desire HD (runs 2.2) was no calendar synchronisation. After some searching it appears that you first have to add a *dummy* event to your phone's calendar then all will work fine. Seems this is an Android bug. If you have updated to 2.1 I assume you have, basically, a brand new calendar so could have the same issue.
