Multiple Identical Linked Contacts

I'm using a Samsung I-897 (aka AT&T Captivate) device running Android 2.1. Even though the only thing that is syncing is my Gmail Email (not Contacts, Calendar etc) there are 3 mostly identical Contacts for most if not all of my ~700 individual Contacts.
Why?
How to best get rid of these duplicates?

In which Accounts are the duplicates saved ? Are they saved all in the same contact-account ?

Never mind it was my own User error. I exported my existing contacts to SD card. When I reimported I did not tell it to ONLY import one set of data but the other 2 exports I'd completed earlier. As a result it imported 3 identical sets and the Android merged each one together. It was easy to clean up.
Will there be the final Notes integration soon...?
I'll send you $30 for a GREAT product! Much better than CompanionLink and Deja Office.

The Notes-Support will need some time cause i have to write first a Notes-Application for the phone.

Hello everyone!
Kind of similar thing here. I use HTC desire with its sense interface. The People contact app lists links together under one headline name contacts details of the same people from different sources such as: MS Outlook Exchange, Google contacts, and the phone itself. MPE sees such contacts as separate and displays them individually. That means that instead of one contact (seen in People app) I see 3 identical contacts in MPE (from exchange, google and phone). It's not big issue but I thought I'd just say it.

That means that instead of one contact (seen in People app) I see 3 identical contacts in MPE (from exchange, google and phone).

Its not a issue, this is the only way to create a working sync with third-party-apps
