Backup Restore

Beitrag von spiritless-emo »

I'm new 2 this app, so this might sound stupid.

I juz 1 2 know tht whn restoring backups (b it contacts or sms) from comp 2 phone, does MPE:
- overwrites the existing data, or
- compare n add in whichever data tht isnt there, while skipping wht's alrd there, or
- simply loads everything in the backup file in2 the phone???

I knw i could hv simply tried this out myself but the thing is, i need 2 restore some old sms-es but i dont wanna lose wht i currently have in my phone. So it would b great if ur ans is tht it compare n adds in (compilation/synchronization-like); nt so bad if its loads everything agn making some duplicate copies; but if it overwrites, thn i hv 2 find some way of extracting the info i need from my backup w/o actually restoring it 2 the phone...

sorry agn if this is stupid 2 b posted here...plz reply soon

First: Please write correct english. I am not a native english speaker so its hard for me to read shortened words.

Cause of your question:
The restore overwrites the data on phone (existing data will be deleted). The only exception are SMS. The existing messages on phone will be not deleted, the messages from backup will be uploaded - if they do not already exist on phone.

You can also import the backupfile into contacts and organizer to avoid overwriting the whole content on phone.
