Using app
USB debugging
I did have USB debugging on. It doesn't do anything...just sits there. I also have WiFi and it doesn't do anything there, either.

@Chewey:
The mpeclient app is only the mobile based part of MyPhoneExplorer.
You have do download and install MyPhoneExplorer from www.fjsoft.at as the PC based part also.
If you want to connect via USB, you have to install the ADB-Drivers (USB drivers) for your phone first.

I think I am getting closer. I have been using the search function quite a bit. I am getting frustrated. Where was it listed that I needed to download the PC side of it? I couldn't find that. That is why I started this out with asking about a User's Guide.
Now, I have the PC software downloaded. I went into file, settings, sync, set it on Outlook 2007 and the phone was on MPE Client...nothing happened.
I saw on another posting that I needed a USB driver. I went to Motorola's website and found some drivers I didn't need. Went to Verizon's website and they didn't have a USB driver for my phone/laptop. I can charge my phone with a USB connection. What am I missing?
Frustrated in Denver.

did you install the adb drivers as mentioned?
if not, try this one:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html

Do I need to go through the SDK brain dammage? I am just trying to get MPE to work on my Windows 7 machine with my Droid X. Why aren't there step by step instructions anywhere to do that? This whole process has been frustrating.
I've got MPE Client on my Droid. I have MPE on my laptop. Where is the driver? How do I know I don't already have that driver? I appreciate the help you are trying to provide. This shouldn't be that difficult.

you might try this package:
http://www.android-sync.com/download/ad ... er_htc.zip
if this doesnt work, there is an "how to install the drivers":

This works for me:
Install applet on Android
Install FPE on PC
On Android, connect cable and select HTC Sync as Connection type
Fire up FPE on PC. Go to File > Connect
Useful settings on FPE:
Connection > Connect via USB: Y
Startup > Connect on startup: Y
Start multi-sync: Y
Sync > Contacts: Outlook 2007
Calendar: Only MyPhoneExplorer (I use Google Calendar sync for this)
Multi-sync > Start on starting MPE : Y
Sync phonebook (phone): Y

may be useful to re-install pc usb devices
Now I had lots of hours trying to connect Nexus One with USB. Got the adb downloaded into a programmes/android folder then found best to have it straight under c drive. In the end all issues were resolved when I uninstalled ALL the usb devices in device mangaer and let them re-install after re-boot. The next usb connect worked first time!
Politicians and nappies have to be changed for the same reason!
