Unable to sync my contacts :(

I am unable to sync my contacts between MPE and my HTC Wildfire.

I keep getting obex error or the MPE Client on my Wildfire force closes or sometimes MPE crashes on my PC.

Would highly appreciate a solution about this issue. Thanks.

You have a really high amount of contacts in your phone. This raises your problems. You can try it again but after freeing up some memory. Just kill some tasks with tools like "Advanced Task Killer". If this does not help then i could increase the timeout in MyPhoneExplorer.

Firstly thanks for your super quick response.

I uninstalled a lot of games and apps and freed around 50MB but still it didn't help. Either the app crashes or obex error or the MPE Client force closes still.

OK, i updated the beta and increased the timout to 90 seconds. please download and test: http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplo ... Update.exe

If its still not working then
- exit the client on phone
- run MPE in Debugmode (Start-Run-myphoneexplorer debug-OK)
- reproduce the error
- send me the file %appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer\AndroidDebug.txt via email

It seems to be working fine now, its taking some time to start syncing and overall sync but its happening.

Tried with MyPhoneExplorer_DebugUpdate.exe and client 1.0.5 beta2. Client force closes during sync contacts.

MPE in debug mode:
- client auto-launches during initial connection
- long pause during "Synchronizing phonebook, Initiating Sync"
- client force-closes after ~1min, but client icon is still in notification bar, in grey
- after another ~30 secs MPE says "Connection to phone not possible"
- Click OK
- after ~1min MPE reconnects, tries to sync contacts again
- after ~30secs, client force closes again
- MPE sometimes terminates with a "send error report to Microsoft", sometimes without

Will email the AndroidDebug.txt file separately.

Around 70-75 Secs when i connect the phn for the first time and around 40-45 secs if i re-sync (without any changes on both sides) after i have already connected the phn and synced it earlier.

Any idea which software to use to save the market and downloaded apps on my SD card. The apps take up a lot of space and phn tends to become slow and for syncing the contacts i think i need to keep a good amount of space free.

As u knw, the HTC Android phns take pics from the Facebook and Gmail account so yes, it has thumbnail sized pics .

OK, in the next updates of the client i plan to make a access-filter so you can sort out f.e. your Facebook account. Maybe i'll add also a option to disable the access to contactpictures (the contactpictures make the most problems).

It works now for you, but 70 seconds are too long for a efficient workflow so in this case it will be probably a good option to disable contactpicture-access.

Hmm however am satisfied by how things are right now {dont mint the delay that much} anyway how do i go bout doing that (disable contact picture acess) ??

Does MPE disable the contacts linking??? Now i am unable to link the contacts with their facebook account... the contact shows in my Facebook list, but when i try to link it from my contacts the specific contact is not shwn...

Is there a way out ??

MyPhoneExplorer does normally no linking. The only possible scenario would be that you deleted a Facebook contact and created it in MPE, in this case the contact is created in "Phone" and not in "Facebook".

What i did was, multiple contacts with same name were created when i bought and synced the phn with FB [coz 90% of my contacts jus had phn numbers and no email addresses]. When i started using MPE i merged these contacts and saved them as single contacts.

Right now theres jus one contact on my phn and the rest have been modified to my google contacts, i.e. the changes i made thru MPE were effected in my google contacts.

hmm... i wonder where the problem lies :s !!!

Then everything is clear.

Android-Phones do merge similar contacts at runtime. MyPhoneExplorer displays and handles each contact as seperate entry, this has technical reasons.

By merging the contacts you edited one contact, and the other one was deleted. Now you have full Google-Contacts but the Facebook-Entrys are deleted. Maybe the easiest would be to delete and recreate your facebook-account in phone to force a new Facebook-Sync to phone.
