Google > Rainlendar > MPE (Only Default calendar showi

Beitrag von cormie »

Hi there,
I've just started using Google Calendar to share my calendar with somebody. I've been able to sync it with Rainlendar and changes in Google show in Rainlendar and vise versa.

Currently, I have my Google Calendar as myname@gmail.com in Rainlendar as a separate calendar to the default however, when I go to sync options in My Phone Explorer, only "Default" appears in the drop down menu of calendars to use. I've even deleted the default calendar in Rainlendar, duplicated the Google one and renamed the duplicate "Default" to see if that would work, but when I did that, the drop down menu in MPE was just blank.

Been trying for a while, restarted laptop and everything but it's just not showing up.

Also, on a separate note; My default Calendar has about 900 past events since I've been using rainlendar before Google Calendar. I'd prefer not to share all these, or just share the previous 30 days and the next 400 or so (I've this option selected in MPE when syncing) Is this possible at all?

Any feedback on the above would be greatly appreciated!

You can Sync with Google Calendar OR with local Rainlendar-Files. Its not possible to sync with a Google-calendar over Rainlendar.

Why do you use the local Rainlendar Calendar-File ? You could add a new caledar in your Google-Account. Then you can sync both calendars (the shared and the private one) with Rainlendar and also with MyPhoneExplorer/the phone

The sense of MyPhoneExplorer is to sync your phone - its not designed to sync Rainlendar with Google. You can import your local ics-File directly into Google-Calendar.

Thanks FJ, the main reason I don't want to rely on google calendar to sync to the phone is so that I can still sync and keep the phone up to date even if I'm not online. I'm trying to work out in my head the best way around this but can't really think :?

So I set up Google calendar as suggested above, created a new shared one and made the default one my private one. However, it doesn't seem to sync the TO DO list from rainlendar at all whereas when it was rainlender to MPE to phone, it synced them no problem?

Any feedback appreciated :)

No way
No API means there is no interface for other apps to access the data

Thanks again for the reply :)

Sorry, I didn't mean to sync the tasks through rainlendar to Google, or to have anything to do with Google, but just to do the calendar through Google and do the tasks totally separate, just Rainlendar to MPE to Phone, nothing at all to do with Google? Or is the task list done on the same system as the calendar and that's what you were saying in your reply above?

That's a pity. Maybe Google will get around to adding that functionality some day :)

I'm guessing the "notes" section is a seperate part entirely to the calendar/to do list and syncs no problem direct Rainlendar > MPE > Phone even if the calendar is done through Google :)

I've run into another problem with this. I use my phone as a modem a lot of the time, MPE can't sync phonebooks or anything when the phone is being used as a modem, this was never a hassle to me before, I simply waited till I was disconnected to sync, however, now that Google calendar syncs with my phones calendar through MPE, I can't sync it while online, so I can't sync it at all :?

Is there any way to get MPE to sync to Google and THEN to sync to my phone, not needing to be online?

Any help appreciated :)

I never tried it but if you are using the USB-Cable then you have two Modem-Ports. You could use one for the Modem-Functionality and the second one for MyPhoneExplorer.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not too sure what you mean about 2 modem ports though? My phone is the G900 and I'm running Windows XP (I'm the guy who was emailing you from Ireland by the way ;)).

I am using the USB cable to connect to both the internet and MyPhoneExplorer (but the internet dial up connection has to be disconnected first).

Oh - you are using a UIQ3 phone. For these phones you have only one Modem-port

Damn, luck hasn't been on my side with this phone at all! It's super dodgy too, buggy as hell and I've to squeeze the top of the phone so I can hear callers too!
