Some phones do not work. WHY?

Beitrag von Gast »

I understand that some phones do not work with MPE. Like Sony Ericsson W302.

For me this is terrible news! I couldn't believe that my phone was unable to connect with the software. I bought it thinking that It would connect perfectly.

I have been using MPE explorer for years now and suddenly I have to stop?!?!?!

Why???? How am i supposed to move all my contacts to my new phone. All my contacts are on my pc and my old phone has gone to be recycled.

Is there another way? Please don't just say "no" to me! 50% or more of Sony Ericsson users buy phones like mine.

I know... I have used the search function. That's why I'm here asking you something else. I know my phone is not compatible. I'm saying why doesn't someone MAKE it compatible. There has to be a way.....

Says Franz: "The W302 has a Sagem-Chip and besides this it has no real Softwareinterface. There will be never a version for this phone."
So sorry! Tough luck!

The phone has no software interface and so it's technically impossible.
But if you know a way, please tell us.

well I've managed to move my contacts onto my phone using the memory card.

All contacts saved on my PC where .vcf format so now i go into my phone

Menu > File Manager > All files > Other

And all my contacts are there as .vcf files which i can open and automatically save into my phonebook.

To save my contacts i suppose I could save onto my sim card, find another SE phone which is compatible from a friend and then upload my conatcts onto MPE.

@Gast: I am also not happy that there are more and more phones which have no or only a buggy softwareinterface. But there is nothing i can do against it. MyPhoneExplorer is communicating with the phone and the phone has to understand and reply the commands, if this does not happen then i cannot make it compatible. I tested already a S302 (which has the same chipclass). You can even download drivers for this phone for modemusage - the common interface for MyPhoneExplorer. But the commands does not work, only a few standarized commands work, but those are very unstable.

You may think its easy to say that its simply not compatible - but i really tested all possibilitys.

To check out if MPE works with a new phone: Go to the homepage from SonyEricsson and check out if you can download the PC-Suite for your wished phone. If this is possible then you have very good chances that it works also with MyPhoneExplorer.

Old topic, but I have question about this explanation.

You mentioned SonyEricsson S302 and problems with it. A have that model, and after some research on net, found a software named "floAt's mobile agent' stable release.

With default options I couldn't connect phone to pc via USB cable. But with disabled "Obex" (in options dialog) I successfully connected my phone to pc.

Of course, data transfer (I suppose it is based on Obex support) doesn't work, but SMS, calls, contacts sincro works well.

So my question is - if there is no possibility to make S302 connect to pc in My Phone Explorer, or with original SonyEricsson pc suite, etc, how it could *be* possible to connect with "floAt's mobile agent" ?

Cheers

There is no lock against the S302 in MyPhoneExplorer. If you have drivers for it you can connect it to MyPhoneExplorer but basicly only the SIM-Contacts and the SMS-Content will work.

Thanks for reply, but I tried to connect with usb with "phone mode" , and after successfull recognition of port and mobile phone, after a few second of connecting I got Error pop out: "Connection to phone could not be established: Phone could not be identified".

As it always be, a short after one wrote post on forum, problem disappeared :).

Before, I just tried to restart pc, phone, and reinstal driver with no help.

Now I uninstaled "FloAt mobile" and after restarting, I successfully give name to my phone, and connect with My Phone Explorer. It could be that there was some kind of conflict with FloAt mobile software.

Unfortunately, after connection I couldn't make any further action - sync failed even with sms messages and sim contact.

But, ok, I realise that this phone is not made for file transfer, and at least I make some kind of connection, whatever it is, so I am not "tottaly" frustrated anymore like before :).
