Phone numbers disappearing

Hi!

First of all, I must thank you for creating such a lovely software, just being able to sync with Google Calendar is super!

Then a question:
I synced my contacts in Outlook 2007. What I don't get is that phone numbers stored in "Home 2" doesn't get synced, but deleted instead. In the phone, a W715, these are stored as "Mobile (private)" (or in Swedish, "Mobil (privat)").

Is there a reason for this or is it a bug?

The fields: Home2 in Outlook, Mobile(H) and Mobile(W) gets not synced with third-party-programs. Home2 should not be deleted in Outlook - maybe MPE did delete the original Outlook-Entry and created a new one. in this case you would see it in the confirmationswindow.

Well, I just assumed it would get deleted, I aborted the sync when I noticed this :/

Is there a better way to store multiple cell phone numbers, so they get synced as well?

I just took a look at the code. The Home2-Field of Outlook is untouched by MyPhoneExplorer (no read operation and also no write-operation).

Maybe i'll enable the sync for Mobile(H), Mobile(W) to Home2, Work2 in the next update. For now there is no better solution

That would be nice, actually. I also noticed that if you sync contacts from GMail, only one of duplicate phones (say, two mobiles) are added to the mobile contact list.

Many of my contacts are in fact using multiple cell phones (myself included) and it's probably the case of many other users. So, how much do you want me to donate to be able to use that in my phone? I'm very impressed with your software and it would be such a relief to be able to use it properly!

To implement this for Outlook is not really a problem, its just a littlebit work. To make this for GMail is a bigger problem cause the mobile-numbers are not unique in Google. All mobilenumbers are saved in the same field-type and this makes it hard to sync in both directions.

Hm... Well if one would implement matching of the numbers?

If you compare the phone numbers available in Google with the numbers in MyPhoneExplorer, delete the oldest ones that doesn't match and add the new ones? I don't know if that would work, but that's probably how I would do it if there were no identifiers. But I guess you would need datestamps on when the numbers were changed or created...

Do you think i did not think about it ?
What to do if there are 3 numbers in Google and 3 in your phone and all are diffrent ? Which number should be set to which position ? Or if one number gets deleted in the phone and the other one are edited ? It cannot be the solution to overwrite the two existing fields and to delete the rest of mobile fields in Google.

That's true...it's a tricky one... And there are no other values to go by, like a date when a number was edited in gmail? Or a primary key? But I'm going to check with my colleague at work tomorrow, he's one intelligent brain to pick

at first, thanks very much for this great tool!

I do not want to disturb you, taking your time; that's why i've been throughly looking for a solution to my problem in this forum. I believe this tread represents the latest status.

Is it planned to somehow sync more than one number with the same category "mobile"/ "work" / "others" / "pagers" / "home fax " / "work fax" from gmail contacts into MPE?
Apparently two numbers with category "home" are allowed and transferred from Gmail into MPE.

Is this rumour true that google is planning to convert "contacts" as an independent "google programme" as "calendar"? if so, for when and would that make things easier for this issue?

Its not planned cause the most phones can hold only one item of a field. And besides this it would be still a real problem to compare the entrys if they have the same field-name.
