Hope this can be understood in English (my German is nil).
Phone - Sony Ericsson v630i
OS - Windows XP Service Pack 3
using USB cable
My Phone Explorer v 1.7.2
Sony Ericsson's PC Suite will not function under XP SP3 (it used to work under SP2).
Have discovered MPE, downloaded version 1.7.2. Looks like very n ice software, but can't succeed with my first task. This task is to synchronize contact data (less than 110 names) between Outlook Express and the SE phone.
Connection is made with the phone, in Phone mode. AFter a few minutes, connection with the phone is lost. I have tried executing in compatibility mode as W95, W2000, etc. No success.
Would be very grateful for your suggestions how to make successful synchronization.

Thanks for your reply - glad the connection and drivers look OK.FJ hat geschrieben:OK, the log looks good. You have set the right COM-Port and the drivers seem also to be correctly installed.
How did you mean "the connection gets lost" ? Does it always happen if you want to sync your phonebook or happens it also if you do other tasks like filetransfer or messagelist-refresh ?
First, the only function of MPE that I have tried is synchronization of my Windows Address Book (in Outlook Express) with the SE phone.
Note that at a very early stage of my efforts to synchronize, the main window of MPE displayed the contents of my Address Book, many of the entries with a little yellow sunburst icon to the left.
Second, here is what happens when I try to synchronize.
a. I press the "synchronise" buton at the left end of the toolbar. MPE starts to download the phonebook and the SE phone shows "synchronising."
b. The little "please wait" screen shows "create new entry in phone: John Smith", then "create new entry in phone: Mary Brown", etc.
c. After five or ten such entries, suddenly "Error message connection to phone not possible!" appears.
d. I press "OK," MPE resumes trying to download to the phone the next name in the phone book, and the same error message pops up.
The phone then interrupts itself, "session terminated." But MPE keeps gtrying to download each remaining name in the phonebook. And I am unable to access any function in MPE until this process terminates, about 85 names later.
In order to speed up this latter process, I disconnect the phone from the USB cable.
Then, after the last name and error message have finished, MPE shifts to a "confirmation for sync" screen that apears above the rest, a bit to the left. It shows a few names, some with entries in the phone, some with entries in OUtlook Express, some with entriezs in both, but not the entire phone book. Under each name, I have the choice to create new entry in OUtlook Express, delete entry in phone, use entry from phone, use entry fro OE, or nexvver sync this entry in future. I click "OK" and MPE returns to a calm state.
End of description of how the error message appears.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Edward

First, I tried your suggestion, seting OBEX packetsize as low as possible. Same (bad) result.FJ hat geschrieben:Currently i don't know why it happens. You could decrease the OBEX-Packetsize in the settings. If this does not work then please send me the logfile after the connection was broken. Menu-File-Settings-Show logfile
Second, I tried twice to send you the log file, but my message appears not to have been posted.
Third, I uninstalled and reinstalled the MPE software. In reinstalling, used compatibility mode (alias Window 95). In MPE, in Settings put OBEX pasketsize at 512. Downloaded the phonebook into the software. Pressed synchronize, made the entries desired, and PRESTO! Everything clicked, very fast too, phone is now updated as desired.
Again, many thanks for your patience and help.
