bug: could not write to sms.dat - worked fine before

Beitrag von Mille »

I've recently started to recive a message that the SMS.dat could not be created.

I've been using this MPE installation since 1.7 was released without this error.

I think it happend when I ran up of disk space on my C: drive, but I'm not absolutly sure.

I also see that the SMS.dat is created, but its size is 0 bytes.

NOTE: Removing the file solved the problem with the error message. But the bug remains. This shouldn't happen. :-)

Here is the error log

I think it has todo with access-permissions for the profile-folder. Maybe the folder is write-protected

No its not. And like I said, I haven't change anything since version 1.7 was released. MPE has worked without any related problems. :-)

(I had no problem navigating to that folder and deleting the file with the very same user account.)

Strange - you can try to move your database. (Menu-File-Settings-Advanced 2).

If this does not help: Do you get also an error after syncing your phonebook ?

I'm sorry i'm wasting your time,
but like i wrote in my note in the first post, the problem is solved.

Just wanted to post the incident as a bug.

The problem disappeared after removing the 0 bytes SMS.dat file.

The reason here is not user- of file rights in Windows.
