+1 on phone number sync disable?
+1 on phone number sync disable?
Is there a way to mask the +1 for US numbers from being transferred to the phone?
OK...the reason for my asking is that my w760 recognizes an incoming phone number and displays the name of the person when it is on the phone with +1 507 555-1212. However, it doesn't display the picture of the person on the incoming call. If the phone number is stored on the phone as 507 555-1212, then it will display both the name and picture of the person calling. Yes, it is probably a bug in the SE incoming call display, but if there was an easy way to not put the +1 on the phone then there would be a work around for the phone problem.
There is a workaround, but it will be not optimal if you sync often with Outlook.
- Turn of the sync with outlook
- select all contacts, choose rightclick->Format...
- there you can remove the countrycode in one swap for all numbers.
by the way: Normally in the most country a zero is added infront if its a national number (0507....) - isn't it the same in USA ?

I don't believe it is the same in the US. My historical understanding is that you added 1 to dial "long distance", which was any number that was outside of your local service area which may have included numbers that were even in your local area code. So, if I dialed a number that was in my local service area, I just dialed the 7 digit number (555-1212). Now if I wanted to call a number that was outside of my local service area, I would dial 1 507 999-1212...long distance. So the country code for the U.S. became +1...and then the phone companies decided to standardize the rest of the country codes. Convoluted, but it meant that millions of U.S. customers didn't have to learn a new system.
