W810 - No connection

I've got a W810i and recently I bought a Bluetooth dongle to work on it. I've installed the drivers published by Sony Ericsson and the Windows XP SP2 "isscedrbta" driver from digiex.net .

Right now, Windows bluetooth driver recognizes my cell, so does SEPS. But there's simply no COM port showing any info. But it's working perfectly, both with Windows and SEPS.

When I open My Phone Explorer (v1.6.7), and push 'synchronize button', it searches COM1 and COM2, finding nothing. I've tried by File->Options->Connection, putting every single COM up to 13 and not one was found.

The main error is: Can't start OBEX protocol.

After this, the software tries to load my phone list and there comes the OBEX error.

I've read the FAQ, I've searched other COM doors with SetupCOM software and did all the procedure asked by MPE. Nothing worked.

Did you pair the phone with the pc/bluetooth software?
The serial connection must be active in the bluetooth software on your pc.

By the way: you need the sony ericsson driver only for the USB-cable...

Yes, my friend.

Both SE Phone Suite and Windows recognized my cell phone.

They're both working together right now.

But MPE doesn't recognize it.

Again: You have to initiate the serial port service in your Bluetooth-Stack. Which BT-Software do you use ? is it from Windows or is it BlueSoleil (Blue window with yellow point in the center of the window) ?

The only software I'm using is Sony Ericsson Phone Suite.

I installed the Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 Bluetooth Drivers and he now recognizes, by a USB Bluetooth dongle, my cell phone. Windows has a poor software. It gives you 2 choices only: send or receive and archive by bluetooth.

I just put the dongle into the USB port and Windows and SEPS recognizes it imediately. No looking for ports, no extra config needed.

In fact, I couldn't find any config topics in Windows. But SEPS has an option for selecting or reserving the COM ports for bluetooth (COM1 and COM2). But I didn't need it.

I was a Blue Soleil user. It didn't ask for any COM ports too.

In the bluetooth environment you should choose your phone, right mouse-click and there should be something with "serial connection" as far as I can remember...
(I'm not at a Win-PC at the moment.)

Problem solved.

I got IVT Blue Soleil again, created a virtual serial port and manage my phone like never before with this beautiful software MPE.
