UCS2 mode

Beitrag von ML »

I apologise if this has been queried before. I am now using version 1.4.5 and have not experienced this in previous versions. I sometimes type my sms’s in Word to get them spell checked, however when I Paste them over into the MPE sms interface the ‘Standard’ sms mode is switched to UCS2 mode. As UCS2 only uses 70 characters it says my sms will be sent using more sms’s than I would normally send using the standard mode. I have sent myself one of these messages and they look no different (no flashing or blinking (Is this a possibility with MPE?)). My question is can I manually switch sms modes and will I really get charged for the extra sms’s that are being sent, or is it really just sending a normal sms? Thanks for your response in advance.

That's because your sms is using special characters (like á, í, etc) so it has to be encoded in UCS2 wich use more info for each character in the sms. Solution? Use normal character even if it's not write in the right way

No, I'm not using special characters, I promise. I thought this might be the case when I first encountered the issue, and have made special provisions to ensure that this is not happening. Unless there is something happening in the clipboard which might be interpreting the data as 'special' because this also happens when I paste from notepad.

Thanks for the response though. :D

Thanks for the reply FJ, How would I do this? I have tried to replicate this error on another PC and have been unable to. Could this be a setting somewhere in the OS regarding my clipboard? I will do some screen shots documenting this issue. Once again, thanks for the reply FJ.

Figured it out

Beitrag von ML »

OK, I’ve figured it out. When I’m copying text from Word which has an apostrophe or any other character other than text and paste into a message in MPE, the character is interpreted as a special character. However when I remove these characters manually, and replace them with the same character (except typed from MPE) it turns the message back into a standard sms.

I tried it out with word - it worked everything right. Please tell me which characters raise the error. Are they languagespecific or are thei Standard-ASCII-Characters ? I tried it also with chars like . ; : , - _ '
