Restoriing data from a broken phone

Beitrag von dde »

Hi,

I read a previous thread about how to restore data from an old phone to a new one. However, my problem is a bit different, my old phone is unusable. Is it possible to get the data from the old phone in the Phonebook.dat and put it in someway to the new phone?

Thanks
Dominique

If the data are already in MyPhoneExplorer then it should be no problem - but please do nothing with the .dat-Files.

- switch in MyPhoneExplorer to your old profile (Menu-File-Users)
- export the data (rightclick in contacts/organizer/sms)
- switch back to the new profile
- import the files

When you say the old phone is unusable, how bad is it? Will it power on? If it will power on, have you tried connecting it to MPE?

If, for example, the screen, speaker, keypad, microphone, etc are broken, then it is unusable as a handset, but if the battery and main board are okay you may still be able to use it with MPE.

I had an Ericsson T68 that got run over by a car. The casing was smashed, the screen broken, etc. I pieced together what I could and found it would still make & receive calls, but the microphone didn't work. I threw it away then, but had I kept it, I think it would have worked fine with MPE & a BlueTooth headset!

Well, it was not that bad, but the service center kept it and gave me a new, so everything I have left is what is saved by MPE.

Thanks anyway!

So simple! I didn't know it is possible to access a profile while the phone is not connected.

Thanks a lot
