Lotus Notes ID file

Beitrag von AsidNet »

Hi,

I've this message in log file when I try to configure synchronization.

Code: Alles auswählen

18:40:31.37 fSyncContactSettings_Activate
18:40:31.40 Lotus Initapplication...
18:40:31.45 LotusSession loaded
18:40:31.45 Error in InitApplication (cLotus) : -2147217504 Notes error: Impossible d'ouvrir le fichier ID
18:40:31.46 ErrMsg: La structure des répertoires de Lotus Notes n'a pu être listé !
The Lotus Notes ID file is on a Network Drive (U:) in my case.

What can I do ?

I couldn't reproduce this error on my PC.

But you could do a sync directly with the desktop-client. Please make a new line in the general.ini directly under [Main]. Call it "UseLotusGUIAccess=1"

I absolutely *love* this program!

I also had the same problem as AsidNet but found your reply, FJ, to be very helpful and now I'm able to successfully sync with my Notes calendar. Perfect!

I just have one problem, though:

I have my work calendar in Notes, and my personal calendar on my phone. What I would like to do is to *only add* Notes entries to my phone and not the other way around. Ok, so the solution would be to use 'Force Lotus Notes -> phone', but the problem here is that then MPE wants to delete all my personal entries in my phone calendar...

Would it be possible to add a simple option for syncing (a checkbox perhaps) Saying "Only Add Entries"?

Maybe it is already possible with another "magic" entry in general.ini? :)

I really hope you can help me with this (pretty simple) improvement of your otherwise fantastic app!

Sincerely

DenGamle.

Only adding entries from Notes to phone is not possible. This ist not the sense of a Sync. You can make exceptions for an entry but i'm afraid this is not a good solution if you have to do this for every appointment from the phone.

Dear FJ,

Thank you very much for your quick reply!

I'm very sorry to hear your answer, though... :)

I completely understand if this is not something you want to prioritize. -As you say: This is not exactly the meaning of the word syncronizing :)

But: To me it would seem like a pretty simple task (I'm also a programmer, but of course I know nothing of the internals of MPE, so I might be very wrong about this):

If the checkbox (e.g. "Only Add Entries") is marked, simply pre-select all "to be deleted on the phone"-events with the option 'never sync this entry in future' in the confirmation-UI presented before committing a synchronization.

That way you would have maximum flexibility, at a pretty low extra cost. And the default selection would make this "Only Add Synchronization" just as simple as regular synchronization.

Maybe you could consider this?

Best regards

Btw. Maybe my problem could be solved in another way:

The basic problem is that I do not want my personal events present on my phone to be viewable by my colleagues from Notes calendar. If I was somehow able to transfer the personal events on my phone to Notes and adding the "private flag" to these events in the Notes calendar, it would be just as great (maybe even better actually).

Would that be somehow possible?

Best regards

This is possible if you use the Filter "Add only Private Events to the phone". If this flag is set then MyphoneExplorer will also mark new items in Lotus as private

Dear FJ,

Thank you very much for your reply!

Unfortunately your solution doesn't help me. This is for two reasons:

1) I use a SE W810i phone, and events in my calendar are neither public nor private. It is not possible to mark this on these events.

2) All meeting events etc. in my Notes calendar are public, and it is mostly these that I want to transfer to my phone easily (so I can check my phone calendar at home in the evening to see which meetings etc. I have on the following day at work).

But still: If it was possible to add the private flag to all events copied from phone to Notes it would definitely do the trick! maybe there is a secret entry you can add to general.ini?

Best regards

DenGamle.
