Hello Folks.
I've happily used MyPhoneExplorer for some years - but after the 'death' of XP became a full time Ubuntu Mate user instead.
I found that it is possible to open & run MyPhoneExplorer via WINE - but there was zero USB pass-through.
I've searched here at the forum a bunch of times & the proposed solutions seem very complicated to my non-coder mind.
I use a desktop PC which does not have either wifi or BT.
My queries:
- Is there any simpler, more direct solution to getting MyPhoneExplorer along with full USB pass-through for Linux users ??
- Has this been updated in the very latest version ??
Just 1 added fact - I did have an account here for a long time, but despite using the correct info the PW reset failed to work for me.
Thanks for reading & any helpful replies !!

I am sorry, i have no Linux PC for testing. The first step would be to get your phone visible with the ADB console: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
If this works then we could try to initiate the connection via USB cable |

Thanks for replying FJ.
USB cabled directly via Linux - any of my several devices simply connect & appear.
There is no equivalent Linux app that even comes close to the functionality of MyPhoneExplorer.
Frankly - MyPhoneExplorer is truly the ONLY app that I seriously miss since leaving XP behind.
It is only when I've tried using MyPhoneExplorer via WINE that the USB cabling does nothing.
BTW:
I always use ADB to debloat any new device that is not rooted, and it works flawlessly.
PS - unrelated:
It appears that there are no email notifications from this forum...? |

Email notofications should work - did you check your spam folder?
Relating USB connectivity in Linux: MyPhoneExplorer creates a port forwarder via adb with this command:
| Code: | | forward tcp:5210 tcp:5210 |
Then MyPhoneExplorer does connect to TCP-Port 5210 on the local machine 127.0.0.1 (this port is hosted through adb.exe). The connection gets forwarded to the phone and so MyPhoneExplorer is connected to the phone. The question is:
- is it possible to call the linux adb.exe through wine with: adb forward tcp:5210 tcp:5210 ?
- is it possible from inside Wine to connect to a local port hosted on Linux?
If we can answer this questions with yes then i could implement a possibility to support the USB-Connection also in Wine |

Today I went to open MyPhoneExplorer under WINE & the spinny thing came up as expected, and then...
Nothing.
All I can think of is that since last run I did use Ubuntu Janitor for system cleaning as with many times before without any problems.
So, at least for now I'm abandoning this idea & will use my old windoze NB instead 'cuz that works fine.
Thanks for your time & attention FJ.
PS:
Yes, I always check spam when an expected email fails to show. |
