"Loading file list:" File-Sync "feature"

Beitrag von joefriday »

in V2.2 it is now harder to detect a failure to file sync large volumes of data.

In V2.1 when I perform a sync files for my music folder there appears to be a first pass where the current folder being examined is displayed at the bottom of the MPE window (progress bar?). Awesome feature. This provides a progress indicator for my file syncs. It went away in V2.2. Boo!

In V2.1 this showed a very quickly changing list of sub folders (not sure how deep, but it kept changing if things were working). This ever changing list indicated that some continual progress was being made for the file sync. This is a useful feature for people that do not have rock solid 100% guaranteed sync worlds (poor wifi, iffy phones, pic your reason) with large volumes of data.

I have 100Gb+ of music (27K+) files that I sync to my phone on a regular basis. The first pass sync often takes more than 10 minutes. Sometimes the sync process hangs. No big deal. Do it again. Later. But: When is later?

With V2.1 I can observe that progress is being made. In v2.2: nope! A blank world for over 10 minutes. Did it hang, Yet?

I assume that this "update notification" was removed to improve sync performance.

Can we get this feature back in v2.3?

Thanks. Cheers!

I now assume that you 'only' mean reading the data.
In fact, this is now about 7 times faster than before.
This means that the reading of the 100 GB should take approx. 1 min. So that after about 3 minutes you can assume that something is wrong.

Yep - You are correct! I upgraded to v2.2 and tested again. It took 3 attempts for me to be fast enough to enable USB connection on my phone, but once I did that it then performed the sync portion in around 2 minutes instead of 10.
I assume that I failed in my first attempts with V2.2 to allow USB soon enough on my phone (and hence it defaulted to a slower WIFI connection). This time I was watching to verify the connection type.

Thanks.
