Scanning the QR code no longer works

For many weeks already, scanning the QR code no longer works.

Maybe something is wrong in some MPE update ??

The QR code is actually only rarely needed.
Do you get an error message when trying to connect?

I keep reading it with MPE app on my phone but nothing happens till I give up.

It seems the code reader library does not work for you. Try to scan the barcode with your regular camera app, this should work too.

It doesn't work better with the camera app

When I started using MPE, my phone was automatically connected and synchronized whenever I was back home.

Now it never connects itself automatically.

I have to connect it manually and most of the times I have to click several times, up to 10 times or more berfore it gets connected.

Sometimes a QR code appears, but not all the times and it doesn't work better.

I wonder what's wrong.

Restrictions from Google since Android 8 are responsible for this

The VPN will be your main problem.
You should deactivate VPN when using the MPE or in any case use a fixed IP address in the connection settings.
Please test the connection if you have previously started the MPE client on your cell phone manually.

Absolutely no change when I deactivate VPN both on Notebook and Mobile phone

Fixed IP address for both Notebook AND mobile ?

Fixed IP address for mobile and option MPE => F2 => Connection => Fixed IP-Adress

I did it but I still often have connection problems.

Now I am on Holidays and cannot have a fixed IP since it changes whenever I go back to the hotel.

Most of the times an error message tells that I am not connected to the same network which is wrong. Both my netbook and my phone are connected to the Wifi of the hotel

For me, MPE has now more disadvantages than advantages.I spend alot oftim for no or little result.

It always worked with hootelWifi network.
What do you mean by " cell phone's mobile hotspot"?

I can use Bluetooth but it takes a lot of time to transfer photos
As for USB cable connectioon, MPE says that my phone is not connected
